Exciting Museum Progress News
In conjunction with the Silver City Print Fiesta, SWRMA will be open Columbus Day Weekend — Saturday and Sunday, October 10–11 — as well as the following weekend, October 17–18. The Museum will mount two art exhibitions with works from its Permanent Collection in the building it is raising funds to purchase, located at 410 Broadway, one block west of the Silver City History Museum. These free exhibitions offer the opportunity to enjoy the artwork and see inside the building itself — to envision more art, museum-quality lighting, the educational possibilities, and the cultural benefit of having a full-time art museum locally. Five 20th-century artists, five different mediums. Do your own depiction of the West — children welcome, art supplies provided.
POP-UP JURIED PRINT PURCHASE PRIZE SHOW
ENTER YOUR PRINT! One print of any type will be selected by the Museum board to join the Permanent Collection and will be awarded a $300 purchase prize.
TO ENTER: Visit our Contact Us page and fill in the contact form (please use the form, not email) with your name, title of piece, medium, and dimensions. No entry fee!
Entries must be submitted online by October 1. Approved prints should then be delivered without frame or mat to the Museum on Friday afternoon, Oct 9 or Sat moning between 10 and noon. Prints will be put up with masking tape attached to the non-inked margin of the print.
Purchase Prize submissions will be on display at the Museum on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11.
Purchase Prize selection will be announced on Sunday, October 11 at 3pm. All prints must be picked up between 4–6pm that same day.
